Refundable ContainersSince when have bottles been returnable in Québec? This has existed as public policy since 1984, when the government took a major step in the recovery of single-use containers by introducing the Act respecting the sale and distribution of beer and soft drinks in single-use containers. It has, however, existed as private policy for about two hundred years, administered by the brewers themselves. This private policy makes it possible to re-use the industry’s well-known multiple-use brown bottles that can be filled an average of fifteen times each! A brilliant idea for the economy and the environment! |
